Three Small Dots

Three small dots adorn my skin, these not freckles
Unasked for earnings demarking a long hard road
Unwanted byproducts of a path to life

My previously unmarred skin
Now marked by jagged cuts and tattoos
Necessary malignment for the removal of the malign

Three small dots, that no one else notices
They glare at me
Required torment

I glare at them
The darkest, of course, is in the center.
The place I will see it, day after day after day

It catches my eye, at random moments
Reminds me of what I endured
And torments me with its wee ugliness

Three small dots,  decry that I’m still here
Demark my strength
Symbols of my ultimate victory
