Past events:

The Electric Womb

From July 1 through September 30, 2023, I had the pleasure of being one of 10 womyn artist/poets with work on display at the San Diego Writer’s Ink Inspiration Gallery in Liberty Station. Check my poetry page for some images from the show.

On the radio!

I had the pleasure of the opportunity to read some poetry, a bit of my book and a lovely conversation with Susan Taylor of The Electric Picnic on KNSJ radio. Click below to listen to the show!

Poetry at Pride!

For the first time, a performance of mine at Pride was words! (After decades of musical appearances at Pride festivals). I had a blast doing a 10 min set on Lit stage with Poets Underground on Sunday, July 16 at San Diego Pride! Love is love!!!

VAMP – November 2022 and April 2023

April of 2023 found me performing an uncharacteristically funny memoir piece, “Bad Bear” during SSWA’s “Plant Based” VAMP showcase. Watch it here and learn what to do and not do while camping.

In November 2022, I performed my memoir piece “Discord” on the stage during SSWA’s Vamp Showcase “The Hunt.” Click here to watch.
And… Discord was published as well!

Poetry Headline: “Arriving at Acceptance” Poets Underground April 2022

On April 12, 2022, I had the pleasure of headlining Poets Underground while simultaneously celebrating my three year cancer free date. To watch my performance, click here.

North Park Book Fair – Saturday, July 17, 2021.
The official release of the Anthology “The Whole Alphabet,” a publication of So Say We All which includes my memoir, “Tiger.”

VAMP – May 2021 – Bamboozled.
I was fortunate to have another story telling opportunity even in Covid. If you missed the performance, you can check it out through the link above. I’m at just past the 14 minute mark – but it was a great show so watch it all if you can.

Viral Poetry series, featured poet – May 5, 2021
Charming host, Adam Greenfield, hosted this online event of poetry, featuring me and another poet, Amber Robinson. A fun event, in which he kicks it off with a little bit of chat, hands over the performance space, and then follows up with some Q&A banter. Click the link to watch me read 6 pieces of poetry. (I’m at the 9 min 10 sec mark).

Hear Her Roar, Even Louder – March 2021
I was thrilled to be invited to perform with this wonderful group of amazingly talented female artists and performers once again. Click the link if you want to check it out! Original footage of my story is on my storytelling page, but there’s fun chat and commentary, as well as other performances, on the whole feed. (I’m at just past the 45 min mark.)

News!

New publication!

My latest short speculative fiction piece is out now in the August 2025 issue of Penumbric Speculative Fiction. I started this one while camping, writing most of the first draft in a flurry of words under giant redwoods. A fun little ride, it’s called Speedtrap. Check it out here: https://www.penumbric.com/

This was my first fiction publication, a short speculative fiction story called “The Controller” that was published in Bards & Sages Quarterly.

Me, clearly overjoyed to hold this publication in my hands.

And there was my first memoir publication, a story in the anthology, “The Whole Alphabet.”

See how happy these make me?

Check the publications page for information on my various publications!!! (Trust me, I beamed with each of them.)

Books! – yes… Books!! I am currently querying agents for my first novel, a speculative fiction book titled “The After.” Meanwhile, I started writing it’s follow up, tentatively titled, “The Taken.”

And, after multiple sources weighing in, I’m also mid-process taking a dark dystopian tale I wrote and turning it into a full fledged novel. This one is the fictionalized version of a memoir piece I wrote, performed and published. I’m excited to see how it shapes up, and share it with you all!

Clay – I’ve been honing my craft… and building my workspace which I affectionately call “the pot shop” (it’s still a work in progress so for now, no pictures!). Between writing, I’m usually busy creating with mud! It’s always humbling, very zen and while not instant gratification, it’s a lot faster than publishing! I’m considering crafting pots that incorporate some of my words. Let me know what you think of that idea!

Yoga – yes that’s right, yoga! In 2013, I began the long process of working towards certification as an Iyengar Yoga instructor. In October of 2022, I finally went up for assessment after a very major hiccup in 2019 in the form of breast cancer…. and I passed! I’m thrilled and finding so much joy teaching.

Mud, mud, mud…. Check out my pottery page! If I’m not behind my laptop on on the yoga mat, I’m most likely throwing…. pottery. It’s fun and meditative, and I end up with art to decorate my home and cool things to eat and drink from, as well as give my friends. I welcome commissions — I would love to make you something! Hit me up!!
